Morgenstern
You make a stop off at Outwall Ranch.

Though you're unfamiliar with the layout of a ranch like this, there's a big main building with a sign posted over it. You head through the open door, and are greeted by a portly man behind a counter.

"Well howdy y'all!," he says with a wave. "Welcome to Outwall Ranch. We got everythin' adventurers like yerselves might need fer th' road! We got fishin' gear, we got ridin' birds, we got th' finest minitaur milk this side o' th' continent, we got good food and even a room ya can rent for th' night for that AUTH-ENTIC ranch experience!"

Ah. A tourist attraction. Let's see, what kind of "everythin'" they got.

I feel like I can hear Ranse audibly cringe.

Can we check out them riding birds? I wanted a spider mount but a bird mount’s pretty cool sounding.
Hambone 15th May 2018, 2:44 AM edit delete reply
The question is, are they flightless or not
Guest 15th May 2018, 2:51 AM edit delete reply
Why not both?

Bird mounts? Surely he means Chocobos, or oversized chickens or something....
TheMightyDragonLizard 15th May 2018, 2:43 AM edit delete reply
GOOD LORD! RIDING BIRDS!? Screw whatever else we were doing lets go look at those!

Goodness gracious me, minotaur milk?
Curse 15th May 2018, 3:45 AM edit delete reply
Minotaur milk?!?

Might not be a bad idea to inquire about the riding birds, also perhaps we should ask the "friendly" rancher if he's heard any rumors about bandits... Us poor simple travelers want to avoid them afterall.... :P
Twyll 15th May 2018, 9:58 AM edit delete reply
It seems like he's already assumed that we're adventurers rather than simple travelers. If we ask, he might assume we're after some kind of bounty or just doing the typical murder-hobo "there's a problem to solve that involves violence, so we're gonna solve it!" thing. That's not exactly a bad thing, though.

I guess we don't need to buy the milk here, we can ask Valley if we're thirsty.

Mounts for travel are a good idea.
Can these birds swim as well?
One mount for all terrains is something to consider.

We should check out where the minitaurs get milked.
Iago 15th May 2018, 7:21 AM edit delete reply
We should check how to milk ours, assuming she's into it (I'd assume she could be convinced).
But yes, let's get a tour if that's doable. For science. Lewd science. And the opportunity to check around for hints of banditry.

Also take a look at the wares and mounts at some point. We may not be able to afford a lot, but still.
Gallstone 15th May 2018, 10:11 AM edit delete reply
Unless the archmage who 'made' the Minitaurs pulled some extra special shenanigans, Minitaurs would only lactate due to pregnancy.

As matters stand, Valley is in no danger of ever being milked by this adventuring party.

Mochi
i am deeply concerned by "minitaur milk". let's just avoid that entirely and go check out some big birds.
Jex 15th May 2018, 9:09 AM edit delete reply
I agree
Guest 15th May 2018, 9:25 AM edit delete reply
I say check it out at least, or talk to ours, see if this is unusual/evil
Gallstone 15th May 2018, 10:08 AM edit delete reply
+1 @Guest.

We need to know what's going on here!
Krylo 15th May 2018, 11:33 AM edit delete reply
@Mochi This is a fetish I do not have, but I feel like we're going to be outvoted and there's gonna be weird sapient-milk stuff going on in a couple pages, if the internet has taught me anything.

+1 to original, and same @Krylo

Let's set some bait while we're here and mention we've come across some disguise potions that we're looking to unload. See if someone tries to ambush us later.
Hambone 15th May 2018, 9:53 AM edit delete reply
Not a bad idea. Tipping off a few select people would put us in the know about who maybe in cahoots with the bandits, if they aren't bandits themselves.
Twyll 15th May 2018, 9:56 AM edit delete reply
Hmmm... so *that's* why Valley gets so much minitaur-specific gender discrimination coming her way. Lady minitaurs apparently tend to work as... er... milkmaids, rather than warriors. If we do broach this subject with Valley, we should be very gentle about it, because it might be a touchy subject for her. Make it clear that we don't want to demote her from warrior to milkmaid or anything, just to explore all the different things she can do if she's open to the idea.
Gallstone 15th May 2018, 10:07 AM edit delete reply
Minitaur milk?!

Maybe it's as well that Valley isn't here.
We should check out the barn and make sure any Minitaur women present are there of their own free will, rather than chained slaves.
Guest 15th May 2018, 12:28 PM edit delete reply
Agreed
Dooth 15th May 2018, 2:42 PM edit delete reply
The minitaur milking situation might be worth checking out. The riding birds aswell. Staying the night might trigger an event.
