Morgenstern
You scramble to your feet, quickly chugging your Language Potion. Valley begins to charge forward, as does the spider (as much as it can manage), but you hold out an arm to stop Valley. You tell the spider to wait. ...In spider, apparently.

"Vhat?," asks the giant spider. "You arre food. How arre you speaking spiderr?"

You tell the spider that you're not here to fight, you're just here to talk with the fairies.

"Not herre to fight?," the spider asks incredulously. "Do you not underrstand? You arre food. Beeg food, for spiderr. I do not carre vhy you are here. I vant to eat you."

You tell the spider that you'll tend to its wounds, if it'll just... listen to reason. And not eat you.

"Thees is strrange offerr," the spider admits. "Vhy vould you, food, vorry about my vounds? Is thees trrick?"

"Inzo confused," your goblin engineer mumbles to the others. "What hume doing?"

"He's..." Lagrand lightly clears his throat, fighting back a smile. "I believe he's speaking to the spider."

"Oh," replies Valley. "Duh. Obvs. How did I like, not put THAT together?"

Valley turns, and she and Inzo exchange really bewildered shrugs. Your spider-speech probably does not sound comprehensible to the rest of your party.

On a non-update-related update, I've added Inventory and Party pages to the top of the site, which will be updated to keep up with the comic.

I've also made a separate Patreon for Nast related stuff. Becoming a patron gives you access to sprites I've used as PNGs on transparent backgrounds, and at a certain tier you can even advertise on this site.

Give the spider a serving of the healing rations, and ask it about the fairies. It might not know what we're talking about, since it seems to consider everything to be food. However, it might be more social once fed. And eventually we may be able to make a friend of it. I suggest naming it Shelob.

Trick the spider into drinking gob juice by saying the gob juice will heal it.

After all the trouble we went through, let's *not* trick it. Feed it a Healing potion.

Point out that as a member of your party, the spider will have ample access to interesting food, along with the added strength of the whole party backing it up.

(Never mind that we habitually resolve conflict by attempting to negotiate instead of by killing our adversaries.)

Also, we should figure out how to make language potions, or learn a language-comprehension spell, if we're going to keep on trying to negotiate with or recruit non-English-speaking entities.
