Morgenstern
You make some small talk with the ranch hand, and introduce yourself; you find out that her name is Rida.

Having acquired a spell that increases production in some vague fashion, your first thoughts--in no particular order--are:

using it on Valley, for more (better?) healing and

using on yourself, for uh... Ranse's entertainment.

By the time you get back outside, however, both have already left the ranch--as has Justice, the three of them well on their way to Threeroads. Ah, well, there's always time later. You reason it may be better to try the spell out on a plant first, anyway.

Remaining on the ranch are Lagrand--currently meditating, upright with his arms crossed (possibly sleeping?); Inzo, who is tinkering around on his crab mech; and the King Slime, who is reading, and keeping a visible distance from Inzo.

You approach one of the random crops being grown on the ranch, which--from the look of the nearby plants--is... some kind of tomato? You try casting Abundance on it.

Instantly, the green hues become substantially greener, the plant stiffening and rising far above the others that surround it. The tomatoes currently present swell to a brilliant red, and many new ones sprout and fatten to join them. In a matter of seconds, you stand before an incredibly healthy, fully developed plant, heavy with ripe tomatoes.

"Oh, my," Emmy exclaims, wandering up to view your handiwork. "That IS quite a trick, isn't it?"

It is, you agree--though, the mana drain was a bit more than you expected. Not... crippling, by any means, but it's not a spell you would want to throw out too much before a big adventuring day.

...That being said, there is at least one more thing you want to try.

You and Emmy head to the milking shed, where the ranch owner is working with the minitaur girls. You explain the spell (though you leave out exactly how you acquired it), and what you believe it might be capable of doing.

"Well, if one o' th' girls is fine with it, I'm fine with it," he replies.

"Sure," the standing minitaur replies with a shrug. "I'll give it a shot."

The other girl turns around in her seat to watch as you reach forward and... well... not being sure if it requires direct contact, you touch the woman's breast, casting Abundance again.

As before, the effect is instantaneous... though, as one might expect, the effect is also very different.

The minitaur subtly grunts as her already sizeable tits seem to... tighten, swelling and becoming rounder, fuller. You... can't say with real certainty, but they seem to have jumped up multiple cup sizes.

"Oh, damn," the minitaur mutters.

"How long's that s'posed to last?," asks the other.

You're... honestly not sure. You think it should only be enough for one 'round' of production, if that makes any sense--though, you're not sure what that means for the increase in breast size. That... might last longer, but that feels like more of a medical question than a magical one.

"Hells yeah, bigger tits," chuckles the tan minitaur. The other just shakes her head. "Naaah, I got enough problems with carryin' these around, I don't need 'em THAT big."

The enchanted minitaur reaches up, starting to touch her enlarged breasts--and discovers that even the slightest touch, even a slightly firm prod, immediately squeezes out milk. They're packed.

"...Alright, that IS pretty dern good," the rancher declares. "Y'all mighta jus' done this ranch another favor! We'll have to get th' milkin' done and see how much a diff'rence that makes, but uh... if'n ya ever wanna come back an' hit us with s'more o' that stuff, I'd sure appreciate it."

He gives you a grateful nod, and gets back to milking.

Emerald just shakes her head. "The more I learn about your society, the less I feel that I understand. Are we ready to explore that cliffside cavern, then?"

Let’s go and explore the cavern

+1, though we may want to consider changing into something slightly more substantial. I'd hate for us to get sick or freeze to death whilst delving. Perhaps we leave the bunny suit with Lagrand?

If we leave the Bunny Suit with Lagrand, we have to be prepared to catch him wearing it when we get back, though he’ll still probably have his cloak on.

+1. On with the adventuring!
MakePeaceAndLove 21st Jul 2018, 2:44 AM edit delete reply
+1 to heading to the cave.

Also, yeah change back to our Yellow Enchantery. And leave the Bunny Suit... lying around, so that it's up to Lagrand whether he tries wearing it or not.

Or, really... if it's in our inventory, then any of our party members can pull it out at any time. That may be useful in niche situations, who knows what our ladies at Threeroads run into, right?

+1 to heading to the cave and changing into the Yellow Enchantery.
Since the Bunny Suit is then in our inventory anyone who wants to try, or needs a boost of luck, going to Threeroads could make it necessary, can wear it.

Just a thought, but maybe we should leave our chick behind too. Our tiny devourer of worlds should not be exposed to parse elements, unless the rancher gives an ok?
CruntKnockler 21st Jul 2018, 1:34 PM edit delete reply
I'm not 100% on this, bit O think if it's stored safely away in the shared inventory the little chickadoo isn't subject to the elements outside. None of the fish we've been lugging about had spoiled, for example, or the recovereat we got back in Humblestart.

We're already leaving it with Lagrand to baby sit on the ranch @The Chicken Guy.

So no worries there.

Let the Rancher (I think we learnt his name at some point) know that we’d be happy to help out whenever we swing by (it’ll be a good way to drain our mana before sleeping whenever we spend a night at the ranch).

Before heading off to the cave we should talk to Emmy about any misgivings she may have with working alongside Inzo, point out it is a good opportunity to help improve relationships with the goblin, giving her insight into the race, and that as a diplomatic figure she has to get use to dealing with people she doesn’t like.

Do the same with Inzo before we leave.

+1, I like all of this.

Take a note to pass by the Ranch on our way back, to see the aftermath of both our Abundance spells. And maybe see if it stacks with itself (... on the tomatoes).

But yeah, diplomacy and tolerance.
We'll really have to try and convince Inzo at some point, but that's gonna take more work.

While we're talking, does she how her learn-what-you-eat thing works ? Guessing it's slimes only ?

+1 to stack testing, if it won't drain us, +1 to diplomacy
G. Sansa 21st Jul 2018, 10:23 AM edit delete reply
Frankly, it's Inzo's job to get along with Emmy at least as much as vice versa. Even from a Machiavellian point of view, if he wants world domination, he's going to have to learn how to make and abide by mutually beneficial commitments, and that includes going out of his way to be nice sometimes. And they actually have a lot in common — including being the brunt of pretty extreme prejudice from humans (as "low-level monsters", a double whammy).

Try to make those same points to both of them. Separately if possible, but together if we can't get separate moments alone.

(And of course, from our own point of view, convincing would-be world dominators to be nicer about it is the first step in guiding them towards less destructive goals too.)

While talking to her, we should also ask her more about how she grows. Nast gets inspiration, Inzo builds stuff, Lagrand meditates, Valley mimics... but Emmy didn’t seem to take well to consuming the jellyfish, so feeding her jelly-related things like we feed our chick might not be her preferred way to learn new skills.
She learned Consentacles from Ranse’s novels, so maybe she can learn through reading as well?

Can we wear the bunny suit under our regular clothes? The ears might be a little odd, but there isn't much to get in the way of regular clothes.
Also, while the bunny suit is labeled as improving luck, it seems most useful in us getting "lucky"

On the flip side, maybe it's luck could help the girls while in town.
The chicken guy 21st Jul 2018, 10:03 AM edit delete reply
He has a point. Luck seems more important in the town than in the cave, plus, I kinda wanna see Valley in the outfit, to see how many animal tropes we can stack up. Also, put our chicken on her head (related to the tropes). I've figured that I have the handle now, so I'd better commit to chicken stuff. You are free to ignore it if it is not plot relevant.

Just realised, this spell will make getting some rarer alchemical ingredients a lot easier.

What’s that? Found the plant but it isn’t fruiting? Abundance spell.
Devus 21st Jul 2018, 12:33 PM edit delete reply
Let's uh, hold back on that if we get any similar alchemical quests.

I do NOT want to see what else a giant bug produces.
Croaker 21st Jul 2018, 5:07 AM edit delete reply
Let’s keep the bunny suit and wear thenenchanter garb on top of it, the idea that pirates used to come out of the cavern, but not any more makes me wonder what is in there. We need all the luck we can take and Nast might need an offense that is not magic related.
MakePeaceAndLove 21st Jul 2018, 5:13 AM edit delete reply
While it's a skimpy outfit and logically this could pass, going by jRPG tropes you can't wear multiples of equipment in the same slot, in this case two sets of clothing.

Likewise, if I was the author here I'd simply rule it can't be done, or, the set doesn't provide its benefits if it's not worn alone (and multiples of clothing/armor don't stack their defense values, instead only the best one applies).
1977 21st Jul 2018, 5:20 AM edit delete reply
The fact that there are now a lot of Royal Knights in town has sure nothing to do with the decrease of activity.
Guest 21st Jul 2018, 8:41 AM edit delete reply
@makepeace
actually we might be able to wear other clothes over the bunny suit
the downside would be that bunny ears would pop out from the top regardless, and im pretty sure if we took those off then the set wouldnt work

hey we should see if emmy is cool with us casting abundance on her
might help her make more juices
G. Sansa 21st Jul 2018, 10:25 AM edit delete reply
+1 to asking now in case it's needed in combat later. -1 to actually doing it now.
Antarean 21st Jul 2018, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
I just had a thought. A few pages ago the party members were talking about how the Royal Knights were in Threeroads but didn't seem to be in Humblestart or Peace Calling even though that's where the bounty hunters were. A while back in the comments it was suggested that the panty thief not only stole the princess's panties but also her heart (you know, metaphorically) and that this might be why the kingdom is so up in arms over the panty thief.

What if the princess and the panty thief had sex and the princess got pregnant?

The Royal Knights would know that Nast couldn't be the panty thief since by now they should know that Nast is an enchanter and therefore couldn't have gotten the princess pregnant, so they're not going to spend too much energy hunting him down in the smaller towns. (He's probably still considered a person of interest though.) However, since the kingdom isn't making that information public (for obvious political reasons), then the bounty hunters still consider Nast a target since all they have to go on is the physical description.
Devus 21st Jul 2018, 12:39 PM edit delete reply
I think this is our best theory yet, except I suspect that we're up against another Enchanter; it would make for an interesting boss fight, fill the Evil Opposites rpg trope, and explain his flawless impersonation of us and his theft skills.

Although he'd have to be higher level than us by a good bit to get the fairy panties.
MakePeaceAndLove 21st Jul 2018, 2:06 PM edit delete reply
I must say, I don't know if it's the most likely possibility, but it has to be my favourite theory so far.

Although I'm betting on the royals working with either missing information or downright false information in some way, they probably know that mages are infertile, but I wouldn't be sure they know that Nast is in fact an Enchanter, they might suspect he's a mage but until we've had a closer encounter of some sort, they might be missing key details.

Besides that... they obviously can't announce that the princess got pregnant. But if she is, then they'll start hiding her eventually, and rumours that 'she's sick' will start flowing to cover up the 'she's pregnant' rumours that also spread out.

Good thing we sent the ladies to Threeroads, listening in for rumours should be on the agenda, they might learn some important information for us. >.>
Guest 21st Jul 2018, 2:18 PM edit delete reply
We can't cast abundance on our own mana pool, right? The targeting isn't that granular and that'd be too cheese.
GS 21st Jul 2018, 2:28 PM edit delete reply
I don't think we 'produce' mana. Rather, we absorb it and then use it to fuel our spells.
Green Visitor 21st Jul 2018, 4:49 PM edit delete reply
Okey. You've had your chance for a while, I'll mention the poasibility: An abundance spell on Lagrand and the Mandrogara Seed. Actually, the rule of fun say to do it without his informed consent, but as this is actually a story with its own sort of decency we should talk it over with him. Also, he could leave the party if you did something like that as a slapstick prank (he is already being treated enough as a figurative butt-monkey(by Valley, mostly).
