"So, like... now what?," asks Valley, turning back to the others.

"Knowing that the forge will take so long to replenish does put a damper on our plans to utilize it..." admits Lagrand.

Justice wanders over to the shrine, investigating it more closely--and starting to sketch it out, and the symbols on it, in the party journal. "It may be best to wait until we've talked to Inzo," Justice finally says. "He may want to use the forge for something in particular--or he might just want to see it in action."

"Man," Valley laments, "I kinda sorta totally wanted to put the stone heart in there? Like, the one we got from those golems...?"

"Please, no," Lagrand chuckles grimly. "At best, it would give us greater, future concerns about leaving the heart in storage with our supply of miscellaneous rocks. At worst, we would be forced to face down a... some manner of..."

"Magic spirit forge golem," Justice finishes.

"Uhhh but it would be totally rad?," Valley replies, then gives a big shrug. "Fiiine. We'll wait to see what Inzo wants."

With notes made in the journal, the group leaves the basement and begins heading toward Outwall Ranch, as that's where the other party is going.

The boar, finally having worn itself out, slumps over to rest. You, Ranse, and Emerald are unceremoniously dumped onto the ground.

Find rancher, attempt to sell boar. Buy Cockadoo. Put crown on bird.
Jex 10th Jul 2018, 5:12 PM edit delete reply
+1 to trying to sell it but idk about buying a cockadoo yet.
Sonico 10th Jul 2018, 8:14 PM edit delete reply
Crown the boar instead.
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 5:16 PM edit delete reply
+1 I want to see what a king cockadoo looks like.
Shade 10th Jul 2018, 5:23 PM edit delete reply
Buying a cockadoo and putting a crown on it seems like a bad idea, +5 to making a bird king let's fucking go.
G. Sansa 10th Jul 2018, 5:28 PM edit delete reply
Buy a nearly-mature cockachick. Find some ants and instakill them and feed it. As it's leveling up to cockadoo, put the crown on it. That way it will be a firebreathing king cock, and one that likes us.

Yes to the king cock. But no, don't just crown a random cock that doesn't know us yet.
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 5:37 PM edit delete reply
I'm changing my vote to buying a Cockadoo either chick or adult. We will later feed either the chick we buy monster parts, or we will wait 'till the Cockadoo has a chick.
ZincFingers 10th Jul 2018, 6:45 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, if we plan on crowning a bird, should probably be one we have raised ourselves.
Krylo 10th Jul 2018, 5:42 PM edit delete reply
I like the cut of your jib, Shade. We'll get along, I think.
lil Joshu 10th Jul 2018, 6:25 PM edit delete reply

-1 to cock crown
I want Emerald to put on the crown. See if they stack.

+1 to trade in boar for birds. (In fact, that's more a trade down, honestly... maybe also get pick from first litter of baby boars?)
Krylo 10th Jul 2018, 6:56 PM edit delete reply
Hard no to putting the crown on anything intelligent. That's horribly unethical and could remove her sapience or change her personality and sense of self entirely.
Too Many Monkeys 10th Jul 2018, 7:32 PM edit delete reply
Agree with Krylo, that's pretty much the reason Inzo decided against wearing it.
ZincFingers 10th Jul 2018, 7:40 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, let’s not ‘Double King’ Emerald, it’ll only lead to madness and death.
Tayla 11th Jul 2018, 7:04 AM edit delete reply
There's a whole video about the dangers of Double Kings.
Tayla 11th Jul 2018, 7:08 AM edit delete reply
Whoops! Someone beat me to it. :P
Sanityfaerie 10th Jul 2018, 7:37 PM edit delete reply
-1 to putting crown on cock for the moment. Would rather raise one ourselves, then crown *that*. Bird diet can make more awesome birds, remember? Also, helps with the loyalty thing, which could be an issue post-crowning.
Shade 10th Jul 2018, 7:58 PM edit delete reply
This is a good point, but only adds to the reason why buying a bird and immediately crowning it is A Bad Idea so my previous +5 still stands

Also, agreed to no double kings. I'm all for regicide, but when kings do it there's no real point, as the cartoon proves.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:38 PM edit delete reply
-1 to using the crown right now.

+/-0 on buying the cockadoo, as far as I'm concerned. Though I guess enough people want it by now that we'll get one.

I'll just be happy if the rancher can take this boar off our hands. Whether he raises it or makes meat out of it, I'm fine either way.
pwzysk 10th Jul 2018, 5:19 PM edit delete reply
Ask the farmer if he wants to give you a discount on the chickens in exchange for all the boar meat. I imagine that thing must be worth about a thousand pork chops, and I imagine tourists would go wild at the prospect of exotic meats.
Lapdragon 10th Jul 2018, 5:29 PM edit delete reply
Why does everybody want to kill the boar? We’ve already “defeated” it (for the combat XP), and I can’t imagine that the opportunity to work with a -live- giant boar that’s not trying to take your face off strolls up every day. This thing is worth vastly more alive than dead.

If we could guarantee that it wouldn’t try to rip our faces off once upgraded, I’d even be willing to use the crown on it, over a common chicken (although I’d vastly prefer to keep the crown for later use when we’re in a better position to maximize the yield of the crown, by upgrading a whelpling or something rare and capable of gratitude).
Krylo 10th Jul 2018, 5:49 PM edit delete reply
I don't think everybody wants to kill it.

I don't care what happens to it, and I feel like we can get some profit off it selling to the rancher, whether alive or dead.

But we can't let it rampage around next to town when it wakes up. So we probably should kill it if the rancher doesn't want it, just to protect the civilians in the immediate area, if nothing else.
Green Visitor 10th Jul 2018, 7:14 PM edit delete reply
+1 for viewing the boar as a safety issue. With a crown,
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:39 PM edit delete reply
Yeah I don't particularly want to kill this boar, but I don't much care if the rancher kills it later, so long as we sell it and get something good in exchange.

Also, again, -1 to crowning the boar.... Ganon anyone?
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 5:24 PM edit delete reply
Give the boar the meat.
G. Sansa 10th Jul 2018, 5:29 PM edit delete reply
+1. It's earned it.
ZincFingers 10th Jul 2018, 7:38 PM edit delete reply
Let the boar eat, it would just be cruel if we didn’t.
Krylo 10th Jul 2018, 5:45 PM edit delete reply
Now when you say give the boar the meat, what meat, exactly? Because I'm not sure what kind of inspiration this might give Nast, and I don't really want to see it happen, but experimental monster inspiration is something I can get behind.

Or do you mean the meat we used to steer it? Because in that case, fuck this boar, it tried to kill us.
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 5:51 PM edit delete reply
I did not mean fuck the boar no.
Greenkind 10th Jul 2018, 5:54 PM edit delete reply
Fuck the boar, you say?

Joking aside, I know we're all about being friendly/recruiting everyone/everything that moves (possibly for inspiration, possibly as meatshields) but I think we should draw the line at generic monsters.
Green Visitor 10th Jul 2018, 7:22 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, agreed. Actual monsters will wait until we can recruit the summoner. And should probably be
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
Slimes are generic monsters. Aside from that I just kind of feel bad for the thing. It's just a huge animal.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:40 PM edit delete reply
Give the boar that meat we used as bait, he's definitely earned it.
Korsha 10th Jul 2018, 5:52 PM edit delete reply
If we try to feed the boar, let's make sure Emmy does it. We're still not exactly sure how classes work for her, if just being a slime counts as her class. She might be able to become a beast master. Not sure how well it fits with royalty, but we can convince her it's diplomacy. (Humans consider slimes less than dumb animals after all, she's proof that is not the case, so she shouldn't judge animals?)
Eyebrows 10th Jul 2018, 9:26 PM edit delete reply
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:41 PM edit delete reply
+1 to letting Emmy do it.
JiggilyJoe 10th Jul 2018, 7:16 PM edit delete reply
Let's see if we can possibly trade the boar for a couple cocks, if he doesn't have any young ones we do have an extra team member who could watch an egg until it hatched. Besides a fighting chicken on our side would definitely help when going into battle.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:41 PM edit delete reply
Hmm, now that we have 7 party members, we do have one extra who can watch an egg. +1 to getting an egg from me.
Green Visitor 10th Jul 2018, 7:40 PM edit delete reply
Seems a good time to teach Emerald about nuances of human culture, like terrible puns concerning meat, ethical dillemas concerning conservation of megafauna and, nottheleast, an evening course in venting of bottled-up lust in front of a slime audience.

Barter the boar and get a room.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:42 PM edit delete reply
+1 from me, I liked the way you put it Green Visitor.
Alumina-G 10th Jul 2018, 7:57 PM edit delete reply
D'we wanna try'n keep the boar? It might make a better mount for Valley than a giant chicken.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:43 PM edit delete reply
I'd say -1 to keeping it, better to sell it to the rancher.
Barswanian 10th Jul 2018, 10:11 PM edit delete reply
Find out how much the boar would be worth. If it would make up the funds to get into the entertainer's guild, then do that and let's get a room and put in the journal where we are.
MakePeaceAndLove 10th Jul 2018, 10:44 PM edit delete reply
Though I doubt it would be worth that much, even if we got enough cash we shouldn't buy our way into the entertainer's guild. We want to impress them to recruit Sweet, remember? So that actually means we need to enter via a great performance.
Tech 10th Jul 2018, 11:47 PM edit delete reply
Kill the boar and have a barbeque.
GS 11th Jul 2018, 12:30 AM edit delete reply
1. Put on different clothes before the rancher gets here.

2. Feed the boar the meat we used to steer it. Ask the rancher if he can help us tame and train Porky. If not, let him walk.

3. Remember we could have asked Ranse's dad what the ingredients for disguise potions are so we could be gathering our own.

4. Assemble the party and have us a sitdown, discussing our next move.

5. One group including Justice and Nast to head to Lightsend.
One group including Lagrand to head to Threeroads to head to Threeroads and see how much harm was caused by that boar we teleported.
1977 11th Jul 2018, 2:17 AM edit delete reply
To your first point a big -1.
Why should Nast change clothes? He's fine as he is.

To your third point, Ranse should know the ingredients herself, after all she used to make a big stock for personal use.
Besides that a few of the ingredients are not in this area, that's why the bandits steal from caravans bringing them from where they are.
Krylo 11th Jul 2018, 5:41 AM edit delete reply
0 on clothes. I see no reason to change, but I don't actually care.

0 on giving the boar the meat. Whatever.

-1 on letting the boar go free. It's a giant man eating boar right outside of town. If we can't sell it (or, I GUESS train it--which I don't think is a good idea either, but whatever) we should kill it, or at the very least figure out some way to send it away from any civilians.

On the ingredients--we basically already know what they are. Mushrooms.

And on the groups, I still prefer the groups I laid out before.
MakePeaceAndLove 11th Jul 2018, 9:27 AM edit delete reply
1. I'd prefer for Nast to stay in these clothes. Stay cool and then act smug about it when it's another party member's turn to wear them. Besides, we're smokin' hot now and Ranse's viewing pleasure makes it totally worth it in my book.

2. Let the boar eat that meat, he's earned it. Offer to sell it to the rancher, but if he can't handle it, kill it so it doesn't attack other wandering travelers. I'm not keen on making that our pet. >.>

3. Yeah, Ranse knows the potion ingredients already. We can ask her for a refresher but we should already know anyway.

4. Sure, let's wait for the rest of the party to arrive. I hope that Inzo is ready to unveil his new mech armed in all that crab plate.

5. Like Krylo, I prefer the groups laid out before, all three ladies going to Threeroads while Nast, Emmy and Inzo head for Lightsend, and Lagrand meditates on his mandragora seed. I know you want to bring Justice to Lightsend because it's her hometown, but we can bring her at a later time, too. Not a big deal for me though.
JiggilyJoe 11th Jul 2018, 12:50 AM edit delete reply
After the dealing is done, Ranse really needs to get what shes wanted ever since Inzo had to fill in for Nast. Also, Ranse stated that she's really beginning to like the way Justice smells, maybe she would like a taste too?
1977 11th Jul 2018, 2:23 AM edit delete reply
I think we should try to keep the boar for Valley as a mount.

Identify the new stuff in our inventory.

Buy a Cockadoo, don't put a crown on it.

Check Threeroads.

I see it begins to get dark outside.
Ranse already waits way to long, the teasing should finally stop.
Tayla 11th Jul 2018, 7:20 AM edit delete reply
+1 to getting a room and... "exploring"
(AKA a sexy fun time involving Ranse, Emmy, Valley, Justice, and of course, Nast.)
+1 keeping the boar as a mount for Valley, selling the boar to the rancher, or killing it and selling the meat, in that order of preference.
+1 to inquiring about purchasing a Riding Bird
(Unsure about crowning it; I think we should wait for a better opportunity to use the crown.)
+1 to feeding the boar - yes it tried to kill us, but it's just an animal. We were either in the boar's territory, or the Colossapillar MADE it attack us.)
+1 to gathering the whole party to discuss what to do next.

Also, can we check if the Summoner is at the ranch?

Also-also, can we ask the Sl- Emerald Scholar if we may call her "Emmy", pretty please? c:
Something something, blending in better, etc.
Professor Cupcake 11th Jul 2018, 7:51 AM edit delete reply

What, no one wants to keep the boar? :[

There go my dreams of us training a battleboar...
Espylacopa 11th Jul 2018, 11:38 AM edit delete reply
If we had someone in our party with expertise in monster training I could see us keeping the boar, but we don't and unlike domesticated creatures like the cockadoo, a wild boar is unlikely to be cooperative once it regains its energy. If we can sell it as is, let's do so while it's still exhausted, if not, we should kill it for the meat, hide, tusks and miscellaneous other usable materials. We don't owe it any favors.
Krylo 11th Jul 2018, 3:31 PM edit delete reply
Vilem 11th Jul 2018, 2:18 PM edit delete reply
Sell the boar to the rancher, who can tame it or kill it based on his experience and capabilities. It is a dangerous wild animal; it is not domesticated or even tamed. Do not try to tame it ourselves.
Crazy Eights 11th Jul 2018, 3:28 PM edit delete reply
What about the summoner from comic 80 that has to bone the baddie to summon it? Do we know where she is at? That could be an interesting scene with the boar.
MakePeaceAndLove 11th Jul 2018, 3:41 PM edit delete reply
Even if we ran into her again and she was interested in the boar, I'm not sure she could handle one so big... I'd fear for her safety. >.>

Then again, that would give us a reason to help her out, and maybe that would convince her to finally join our party?
