As your mana is running toward the low side, you equip the scaling knife instead of the wind wand.

You give the belt of the brawler to Valley.

You get a quick (but nonetheless enthusiastic) drink of Valley's gigantic tits. She grins, giving you a gentle kiss on the lips when you finish.

You take a moment to psych yourself up...

and you enter the large door, once barricaded by stone. The elemental leads, followed by Valley, you, and Justice.

Inside is... Grandpa?

"Nast!," yells the somewhat phantasmal image of your grandfather. "Is that you, boy? You've gotten big!"

Uhhhh so has Grandpa, you note with some disbelief.

"Like, for real?," Valley remarks. "Nobody said Gramps was totally swole!"

"Gwahaha!," Grandpa laughs heartily. "Ya didn't think I'd show up as a feeble old man, didja? This was me in my PRIME!"

"We didn't think you would show up at all, to be honest," replies Justice.

"Yeah, like..." Valley begins with a squint, "you're supposed to be way dead? No offense, Gramps."

"Too true!," Grandpa responds, "Much as I hate to admit it. But my grandson has the aura of an enchanter, and the spark of an adventurer! 'Til I find out he's livin' that potential--or givin' up on it--I got unfinished business!"

Your grandfather leaps down from atop the large crates, swinging his old anchor around almost casually. He points a finger at your group, waggling his thick eyebrows.

"To get here, you had to show your strength! Your brains! Your wits! But now... I wanna see your fightin' spirit, boy! Don't be shy--come show Granddad whatcha got!"

He flexes, readying his anchor for combat.

You're still a little stunned by how ridiculously built Grandpa is.

*hearty laugh* That's awesome! :D Tell Gramps how great it is to see him the way he was in his prime.

After that, ask him if he minds if you fight with your preferred fighting style. If he doesn't, bring the wind wand back out and tornado him.
If he does mind, then raise shields and… CHARGE!

Hey, it's a manly battle to show off our mettle, isn't it? Let's get our shounen on. ;)

Agreed! We're in a safe environment here - so no need to keep anything in reserve, and every reason to go for broke. Get the wand out, don't worry about saving mana.

Hey, gramps wants a little fight, why not just go with it? Not that he had anything else to do all this time, and for a brave adventurer like him, the boredom of being dead is torture. So be a good grandson, get that enchanted belt and have some quality time with your long-passed family member. Might as well learn something.

Howie and Nast charge at Grandpa.

Valley SandSharks to flank him.

Justice standby to heal.

Nast use Poison, Howie use HolyWaterJet, Valley use Earthbreaker and Justice use optimistic words to raise moral.

Nuh-uh; Gramps invited Nast to show him his stuff, so it's one-on-one.

Also, Poison wouldn't work on him; his body is already dead.

Yep: it was "show Granddad watcha got", and what we got is friends and some cool group moves. If he doesn't like it he can say.

I guess if he can interact with the anchor and if he can fight us, then we can interact and fight right back at him.

I wonder what he's looking for that we didn't already show against the skeletons.

I'd still want to take him on alone. We have our Sailing Shield and Scaling Knife, that's good enough if you ask me.

At least, I feel we don't have to bring him down, we just have to give our best effort and show we're serious about adventuring, so grandpa can give us his blessing (along with the anchor, probably).

None of the spells Nast currently knows will be of any use in this encounter unless we wanna make those crates extra breakable. I don't think ghost-gramps counts as an aquatic creature so the scaling knife's bonus is useless. Switch back to the wind wand.

Wow. WOW. Just--wow. Man, Nast didn't luck out when it came to physique, but it's awesome to meet not so old ol' grandpa. (As an aside, that is one GLORIOUS mustache-and-beard combo he's rocking.)

The ladies -- and Lagrand -- seem to like Nast's physique just fine so far. ;)

And anyway, who knows what Nast could achieve if he started training regularly with Valley?

Yeah, Nast is an enchanter after all, who knows what he can achieve if he works at it? And everyone else seems to enjoy his physique so far.

Use the bandit’s bandana - I doubt grandpa will have much in his inventory other than the anchor, and anything he does have is likely related to his plan to test your strength - something to fight with, and something which might give you an advantage

+1 to trying to steal. I've no idea if it will work on a ghost, but I want us to try it out just to find out. Plus, trying to steal in the middle of this fight is quite daring.

I bet Gramps would love it. He just wants to see what we're made of, and he himself improvised a combat style out of the Fisherman class's attributes! Our own composite way of doing things will probably bring a smile to his face. ^_^

Now grandpa might go for his tunneling trick, that would be a perfect time for earthbreaker/tornado combo. Earthbreak to shatter the ground he is trying to dig into, tornado to swirl it around him and yank him out of the ground. Heck! Throw the water element into that too! Verticle Mudslide!

Now that I think about it, his class would be something like Warrior, right? Or maybe Fisherman, as odd as that sounds, or some other sea-themed thing?

This is to test Nast, so make him come up front alongside Valley, with Justice a bit in back. I suppose Valley should come up a bit in front of Nast, but maybe we could flank Grandpa from two sides.

Equip Nast with wand, because although he is running low on mana, this is the last push in the dungeon.

I assume Justice's healing will hurt grandpa, since he is dead, but what if she accidentally . . . un-kills him? That seems cruel.

I assume by "un-kill" you don't mean resurrect him from the dead. I don't think it likely that Justice will accidentally wipe Gramps off that plane of existence. First, Gramps is experienced and skilled, unlike the skeletons, and most likely will be able to break away from her grip. Second, Justice would probably let go if she thought he was close to moving on to "the other side."

Nast needs to clarify if it is a one-on-one fight or a team effort. If the former, hope that corporeal weapons will work and use the wand-shield combo. This could be treated as sparring match of sorts.

If corporeal weapons don't work, try dipping the Sailing Shield (or the knife) into the holy water elemental. The holy water will need to be refreshed on every cast, but it could do some injury.

If it is a team fight, then Valley should show off her mastery of the Sand Shark to Gramps during the fight. Ghosts might count as undead, so Justice's healing hands might help. The holy water elemental could come into play as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that Gramps is testing Nast, not trying to kill him, not that Nast should be too care-free in his fighting.

What about the Phantom Candles? They seem to have some strangeness to them, so maybe taking a few from the walls and throwing them at Gramps would an effective technique, at least for distraction if nothing else.

I forgot about the Belt of the Brawler until I re-read some other comments, but Nast might find it more useful than his current accessory, especially if this is not a team fight (though I do think Nast should try stealing from Gramps as others have mentioned).

PS: After the fight, crack those crates open, assuming they don't break during combat. Gramps may have left some nifty loot inside.

PPS: If Valley gets disarmed, is she strong enough to through those crates around or use one as a shield?

So I'm thinking that means he is ready to fight the group. So lets start by telling Gramps how great he looks, and that you look forward to showing him your mettle. While doing that, lets pull out the wind wand again, and do the Terranado with Valley. Then while he's distracted, have Valley Sand Shark behind him, get the drop on him. Justice can try to pull any Status effects off of him.

I’d say save the Terranado for if Gramps tries to Sand Shark, if we can hit him with it when he is in mid-air during the initial dive it’d not only ruin his move, but slam him into the ground with a fair bit of force.

Just putting this here in case I’m not around later.

After the fight we should see if Gramps has any tips / tricks he can teach Valley. He invented the Sand Shark, so I’m sure he’d be able to give her some advice about it. Hell, he’s our Grandfather, maybe he can teach us the move as well.

That's a very good idea. He'd probably appreciate being able to pass on a few tips to Nast and the rest of the troops. In fact, he's the most experienced adventurer that Nast has met to date, so if he has time after battle, Nast might want to discuss everything with him. Who knows what he might have to say?

Being an old, earthy, and dead adventurer and possessing other qualities that would loosen one's lips on topics that would otherwise be avoided for sake of propriety, I expected Gramps to make a comment about how his grandson has two beautiful and competent ladies on his arms.

Also, no introductions? Hopefully, that happens after the fight at least.

If he's non corporeal, the Wind Wand itself might be enough to (temporarily) destabilize him.

Yeah Grandpa! Fighting spirit? We can do that. Send that shield flyin' at him. Valley, against her natural instincts, should stay back for now; If she charges ahead it leaves Gramps free to sand shark and attack us or justice. Elemental and range attacks to open till he comes to us, then hopefully we can surround him. We can afford to be a little reckless, as I doubt he wants to murder his grandson.

Oh, and let Valley know we're cool with it if she wants to hook up with our swole ghost grampa after the fight, before he fades away or whatever.

I think we should veer away from the topic of ghost-mortal sex since most of those possibilities are a little disturbing.

Plus, it's a little early for that since Valley only just met Gramps. I doubt Nast would stand in the way, but I'm hoping Gramps would politely decline and make up some excuse (like Granma or its impossibility).

Now, I really want to know how Gramps put this dungeon together. From his dialogue, I don't think those skeletons just happened to wander into this area.

Speaking of the area, did Gramps carve it out himself or was it pre-existing in some way before he found it? He doesn't sound like the type who would spend so much time working on his own grave, but if he considered it more as a down payment on testing Nast, it makes sense, I guess.

Question Gramps first... he's not going to disappear in a spooky fading voice if he's defeated (or defeats us), is he? Because some chatting totes needs to be done (such as asking if there's a missing grandchild).
