Before the fight begins in earnest, you hurriedly equip yourself with the bandit bandana, and Justice with the goblin knife. The skelecan looks undead--you suggest that Justice try to use her healing hands ability on it. You've heard that healing does damage to the undead.

Using your wind wand, you create a powerful gust of wind to force the skelecan groundward--spiking it toward the dock. However, the skelecan opens its wings wide, riding out the burst of air to its end... and then swooping low over the top of the dock, past the toads and straight at you.

You raise your shield. At the last second, the skelecan opens its mouth wide... and scoops you right into its maw mid-flight.

"Nast!," Valley yells. She brings her stone zwei back, preparing a swing. "Don't worry, I'll totally--"

One of the tingly toads just sort of... launches itself forward, smacking Valley as it bounces off her face with its tiny body. She almost drops her weapon right there, immediately paralyzed.

The skelecan, with you somehow stuffed into its throat pouch, starts hauling you back into the air. Justice leaps, barely managing to drag her fingertips across the bird as it rises... and using her healing touch.

...Which does, in fact, heal the bird, undoing whatever damage the toads had managed to inflict on it before you arrived. It seems the skelecan is not undead at all, it simply decorates itself in the bones of previous victims.

You now feel very uncomfortable being in its mouth, a feeling not aided by the intense burning of the acids that dwell in its throat pouch. At the very least, you're definitely close enough to steal something--you use your steal ability, granted by the bandana, as the skelecan carries you higher and slowly tries to break you down into more swallowable chunks.

You successfully steal a skull helm. Not like the one it's wearing, but a different one.

Really, you're liking this bird less and less by the second.

Wind slice our way out and use the wand's 'flight' to slow our fall.

Possibly poison it before wind slicing as well.

+1 to poison, wind slice, wind+shield (if possible -- otherwise try to grab skelekan's feet and ride it down), while down below, Justice backs off before paralysis martyr, then Valley Smash. All good ideas.

Since we're definitily in touchrange try poison on the skelecan and deinforce on his armor.

Slice it's pouch open with the wand.

If the wand isn't going to work in here, we still have an Old Iron Sword in our equipment.

Or we could jam Valley's original weapon, the Studded Club, down the Skelecan's throat.

As for the other two, have Justice take the paralysis, so that Valley is free to smack the toads back as they jump at her.

Was about to suggest Justice take Valley's paralisis and Valley use earthbreaker but then I remembered we're on a dock and I started questioning how effective it would be.

Well, that went poorly.

Agreed with the Poison the bird plan.
A sword is probably too unwieldy to use safely here,especially since enchanters aren't good with those in the first place.
So just conjure wind while in the pouch, sticking the wand down its throat if really needed, and pop that thing like a balloon.
Be ready to soften the fall with a controlled burst of air.
Also be ready for the grossness.

As for the girls, I'd have Justice take a few step back and martyr that paralysis from a distance. As far away as she feels comfortable with.
Valley'll have to be extra careful, but I'm hoping the toads are more annoying than dangerous and she can handle them, using her big-ass weapon to block any further poison smacking.
If it gets to be too much, grab Justice and walk away

I really don't want to, but if things get too tough, Earthbrak the pier. Behind her. Shouldn't destroy it completely nor cut off her escape.


If we do end up having to run from this, unlikely as it sounds, agree to never talk about it again.

I'd actually suggest for Justice not to use her Martyr ability on Valley, because if another Toad jumps and paralyzes her again so easily, then they'll both be paralyzed while we're trying to not get digested by the skelecan.

Paralysis normally doesn't last long, so I'd let Valley recover from it normally, or only remove it if the toads change targets, like focusing on the skelecan again, then Martyr from a distance can let Valley get away.

If we can't get free fast enough we should consider emergency use of the Burn Resist Potion.
I know we want it to use with the KingSlime, but it is the only thing that can help us right now.
With any luck either Ranse can make a second one or we don't need it due to KingSlime training her abilities while we were away.

The paralysis effect seem to require bare skin contact. After Justice martyrs from a safe distance, Valley should temporarily retreat and cover up with the unused clothes in our inventory.

The frogs attacked us unprovoked so they're fair game. And probably valuable alchemically. Let them go past and flee if they want, but if they keep attacking: KILL FROGS.

Am I too optimistic hoping that these enemies can teach Valley a new move? Even if it's something as simple as Jump Attack.

Valley learns new moves by observing enemies but the only time it worked so far was from an Orc, so I'm not sure if it's limited to classes or if she can learn from all monsters too, as long as it's more martial than magic-based.

Also, I was gonna mention it in the previous comic panel (the update happened quite fast), but I really appreciate that Justice helped Valley confirm she's lactating. I look forward to continuing their taste-testing later, but I'm also happy to see our party members interacting on their own without any input from us.

Maybe it's just me, but this way feels more natural, less like Nast is the unquestioned leader and more like we have a group of characters helping each other out and getting along, like a party with equal rights, or a family.

Currently most of our quests have to do with clearing Nast's name, but I can see us entering new locations where other characters get involved in quests of their own, at which point Nast and the others will assist them in completing their missions, too... what do you folks think?
